The story so far...

Well…

The characters, for a variety of reasons, ended up in the town of Pine Hollow in the middle of Winghaven forest in the Winghaven barony. The NPC, Owen Archer, apprentice to the bowyer, had lived there most of his life and Bruce, the beardless dwarven priest of the Trinity had been there for a few months after getting roped into taking over as the town priest. The others trickled in just in time for a big spring festival…

which was interrupted by a goblin attack on the town. The town mayor, an old halfling named Master Thistlewhistle, was gravely wounded and taken by the party to the church. While deciding ‘what the hell was that all about?’, they are told that Master Thistlewhistle’s home and tannery are infested with goblins and many of his kin are being held hostage. The group decide to help out the halflings and infiltrate the tannery and house, killing goblins and saving innocents as they go. After this successful episode, Master Thistlewhistle, a former adventurer himself, gives them some rewards, and asks them to go down to the goblin lair and find out what prompted the attack, since by and large, they hadn’t really had a lot of trouble with the goblins…

so, they went down there and found that the goblins had been taken over by a couple of nasty bugbear types and the goblin druid was messing with the vegetation so the road led right into the lair. They freed some slaves, fought some worgs who really wanted to eat the young halfling rogue in the party, and freed the goblin druid who helped them start a counter-revolution to get the goblins back under control. They ended up having to fight the male bugbear in a gladiator style combat, but succeeded, so it was all good, except….

the female bugbear sorcerer was actually leading another, larger raid again Pine Hollow now that the adventurers were out of the way and the town was weakened. The party hurried back and confronted this threat, killing the bugbear and running off the remaining goblins, but not before a the town had suffered some significant damage and loss of life, including Owen’s adopted father.

A week later, the replacement priest showed up with an invitation for the group to come to the capital to meet the High Priest, since he had heard of their deeds. Along the way, they ran afoul of frogs….
